Trinity’s Leaders
At Trinity, our bulletins include “Ministers: All Members of the Church,” in order to emphasize that all of us have roles and particular calls to ministry alongside one another and alongside Christ. One member’s ministry might be providing floral arrangements for worship services while another’s ministry might be organizing a small group study. We have folks who use their gifts in property maintenance, financial literacy, public speaking, administrative tasks, congregational care, and many, many more. We are always looking for more ways to better integrate the gifts that God gave us with the needs among our community and beyond.
The Session
The word “Presbyterian” comes from the Greek word for elder. Elders are chosen by the people within a congregation and, with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, they exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a particular church as well as the church at large. The elders in a congregation make up the governing body which is called the session. At Trinity, we have nine active elders on session, with the minister serving as moderator.
