Mission and Service
As a congregation, we give our time, our money, and other resources to further the work of God’s kingdom. Our pledge to be a Matthew 25 church calls us to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, take care of the sick, and visit the imprisoned. The focal points of being a Matthew 25 are to build congregational vitality, dismantle structural racism, and eradicate systemic poverty. Trinity supports a variety of projects and organizations within and beyond our community. Our mission partners include Starkville Strong, the El Salvador Clean Water Project (with Living Waters for the World), Habitat for Humanity, Casserole Kitchen, and more.
Trinity is proud to host Helping Hands. We need volunteers each evening, primarily to be a supportive presence to clients. No prior knowledge is required and training will be provided when you arrive. Volunteers do not have to be associated with Trinity, so feel free to invite a friend to join you! Volunteers are asked to be present from 5:00pm until around 6:30pm. Sign up here.
Since a massive ICE raid occurred in Morton, MS, in 2019, Trinity has been delivering food and new or gently-used items like children’s clothing to the Morton community. Requested items include spaghetti and sauce, ramen noodles (chicken/beef), white rice, whole kernel corn, green beans, peanut butter, powdered milk, and children’s clothing. Please place all donations in room 101, across from the front office.
Starkville Strong organizes several little food pantries around town. The service committee invites you to drop off non-perishable food items in the baskets in the fellowship hall and sanctuary. On the last Sunday of each month, we celebrate the birthdays of that month and dedicate the contents of the food pantry baskets in honor of those with birthdays. The goods in the baskets are either dropped off to the little food pantries or remain in the sanctuary for Helping Hands clients to take.
